Our Story

The action between eye exams.

One aisle is built for diagnosed patients. The next one shouts about undoing decades of change in a fortnight. Vael exists for the millions of adults standing between the two — no diagnosis, no treatment plan, and eyes that no longer bounce back the way they used to.

How Vael started

The category looked complete. The customer wasn’t in it.

Walk the eye-health aisle and it reads like a solved problem. Shelves of eye vitamins. AREDS formulas with decades of institutional weight behind them. Lutein products at every price. And one aisle over, the offers promising to undo twenty years of change in a fortnight.

But the person we kept hearing about wasn’t standing in either camp. Late forties, fifties. No diagnosis, no treatment plan, and no patience for an overnight-fix pitch. She had simply noticed that oncoming headlights bloom wider than they used to, that a dim menu has to move to arm’s length, and that her eyes are done before she is — finished at four in the afternoon while she still has hours of life left in the day.

So we looked at what she could already buy, and found that every option was answering a different question. Readers and bifocals change focus. Drops address the surface. Blue-light lenses filter what comes in. AREDS-style formulas were built for a defined disease-risk audience — a lane we stay out of. Generic eye vitamins replenish broadly, with no reason the ingredients belong together. None of them gave her a daily action for how her eyes handle light, load and recovery.

The problem nobody had named needed a name. We call it the Light-Recovery Gap: after 40, modern visual demand begins to outpace the systems that help the eyes handle light stress, keep circulation moving through very small vessels, generate cellular energy, and recover between visual tasks. Glasses change focus. Nothing on the shelf spoke to the recovery side.

That gave us a formulation brief instead of a marketing brief. Rather than copying a lutein-heavy macular-pigment formula, we organised six actives around four support layers — light-stress defense, ocular microcirculation, cellular energy and recovery, and foundational eye nutrition — and printed every amount on the label, down to the 12 mg of astaxanthin.

What came out of it is the action between eye exams: a transparent daily routine for people who’d rather support their visual confidence now than wait for “a little harder” to quietly become “I don’t do that anymore.”

What we believe

Three principles shape every decision we make — from what goes in the bottle to what you can read before you buy.

A bounded promise

We support visual resilience. We don't correct focus, we don't replace your glasses, drops or eye exams, and we don't claim to undo what an exam finds. Glasses change focus — Vael One is built for the eyes behind the prescription, and we'd rather say exactly that than sell you something bigger.

Evidence at the ingredient level

Every active is named with its exact amount, and every claim sits next to the specific role and dose it comes from. No proprietary blends, no research stretched past what it actually showed, no outcomes borrowed from a different formula.

Transparent by default

Every option is a subscription — your bundle ships now and refills every 30 days — and we say so on the buy button, not in the small print. Price, how often you're charged, your next charge date, how to cancel and how the guarantee works are all visible before checkout, never after. Cancelling takes a couple of minutes from the link in your order confirmation email, or one line to support. Transparency isn't fine print here; it's the offer.

The people behind Vael

A small team, on purpose. Nobody here is a doctor, and we don't pretend otherwise.

Daniel

Founder

Background in product and operations. He kept the market research open on his desk for months: a large, sceptical audience, a shelf full of products built for other jobs, and no honest daily option in between. Vael is the answer he wanted to be able to give them.

Maya

Head of Formulation

Works directly with independent labs and suppliers on forms, sourcing and amounts. She's the reason the panel reads "astaxanthin, 12 mg" instead of "proprietary eye complex" — and she'd rather cut an active than pad the label with one.

Jonas

Community & Support

Answers the inbox himself: order questions, subscription changes, cancellations — one line is enough, no phone call — and the fair "is this actually going to do anything for me?" emails. He'd sooner talk you out of a purchase than have you feel sold to.

Two capsules. Once a day.
